Verruca treatment in Rochdale

A verruca is a wart on the sole of the foot caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Many clear on their own, but that can take months or years, and they can be painful to walk on. At Ray's Podiatry, verruca treatment is included in the 30-minute routine treatment (£39): the hard skin over the verruca is reduced and the verruca is treated.

Book if you notice

  • A rough, hard patch on the sole, sometimes with tiny black dots
  • Pain when you stand or walk on it
  • A verruca that's spreading or has been there for months

What’s included

  • Hard skin over the verruca reduced
  • Verruca treatment
  • Advice on stopping it spreading

What happens

  1. Step 1

    Confirm it

Ray checks it's a verruca rather than a corn. They look alike, but a verruca usually hurts more when squeezed from the sides.

  2. Step 2

    Reduce it

The hard skin covering it is pared back so the treatment can reach it.

  3. Step 3

    Treat it

The verruca is treated, and you'll know what to expect and when to come back.

Stop it spreading

  • Cover it with a waterproof plaster or verruca sock when swimming.
  • Don't share towels, socks or shoes.
  • Try not to pick or scratch it.

Questions about verruca treatment

Are verrucae contagious?

Yes. They spread through direct contact and on wet surfaces such as changing room floors. Covering the verruca and not sharing towels or footwear helps.

Will one treatment clear my verruca?

Usually not. Verrucae often need several treatments over weeks or months, and some clear on their own. Ray will tell you what to expect for yours.

Can I go swimming with a verruca?

Yes. Cover it with a waterproof plaster or wear a verruca sock so it doesn't spread to others.
